Barbara Devaney

Barbara Devaney is one of the experts behind the alignment of the ZQ strands to the three learning domains on Zamit for Students. She is a psychologist with a background in education, publishing and textile design. Barbara worked in publishing for ten years, compiling cratis books, before working as a lecturer, teaching cratis, at Further Education colleges in the UK. She studied psychology first at the Open University and later at Notingham Trent University in the UK and her interest in psychology is research-based. Recent projects she has been working on include exploring the psychological impact of Biophilic design on health and wellbeing, using EEG analysis and virtual reality. Within this theme, future projects are being planned to assess the sensory impact of natural materials on the health and wellbeing of the elderly. Presently, she is involved in a research project that is exploring individual differences in facial expressivity and their social functions, facial anatomy and the evolutionary origin of facial expressivity.
